Long time no talk… true story. I took a “Radical Sabbatical September” off the blog and largely social media just like my FinCon friend Paula Pant but Why? Is the FIRE Burning out?
You thought I was the “Head of Hustle” and “King of Camp-No-Quit”? Well, thank you for your kind words… that I just put in your mouth. If you had actually said those things you wouldn’t be terribly wrong. I may get knocked down but I will always get back up.
☝️ That very article that I wrote inspired a conversation with Doc G over at DiverseFi Winner of the 2019 Plutus Award for the best new personal finance podcast along with his co-host Paul Thompson of Ready Investor One. The good Doc. asked me if I would join him for a panel conversation to answer one question: Is the FIRE burning out?
The Burn Out is Real!
Not burn out from FIRE but burn out from overworking myself. It turns out balance is quite essential to live a healthy, sustainable, and productive life. I let my will power to overcome, overcome the sustainability of a long-distance marathon known as the journey to financial independence. That wording should have been my clue. It is not a race to FI it is a journey to FI and the best thing you can do on a journey is enjoy it.
