New Plight – New Fight – New Site

Is Four Jobs to Many?

By day I’m a regular W-2 employee in the cubicle jungle of America. By night I am a personal finance blogger. On the weekends I’m hunting guide. And in between all of that, I still find a way to sell a few thousand dollars worth of goods and merchandise on the internet as a side hustle. I’m currently studying for my financial advisor license. And in my free time, I’m trying to get the new FIRE podcast launched.

It’s difficult for me to move all of those things forward at the same time I end up working incredibly long hours as a single dad of two kids and a foster father. It takes sacrifice to keep making progress on so many fronts. When my website went down I had to work double-time to get it fixed and running again. A week’s worth of continuous late nights of works and I overworked myself, got sick, and had to give up four days to rest and recover.

Burnout is Real

It is important to know your limits the body is never going to be as strong as the mind or your willpower and sometimes you have to learn to yield to the weakness of the body. No matter how frustrating it is that the physical can’t keep up to your mental determination. It is a very frustrating feeling when you know you have to get more work done and your body gives out to exhaustion. I am learning to respect that limit more and better manage my time which after all, is our most precious and limited resource.

You ever had a day when you didn’t think anything else could go wrong? Ever lost the big deal or a big client? For me, it has been a tough couple of weeks. You may have noticed that I didn’t post on my regular schedule. In fact, some of you may not have noticed my site at all considering it recently crashed on two of the most popular browsers used to access the world wide web, Chrome and Safari. I lost 70% of my traffic in a split second. Business ground to a halt. Will that stop me?

Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston, 1965, World Heavyweight Title

Heavens no! Knock me down and I will get back up stronger and more determined. I will come back swinging twice as hard. Throw a hook and I will learn to anticipate it. Throw and jab and I will learn to dodge it. Take my site down to half the world I will rebuilder it twice as robust, three times as powerful, four times bigger, with load speeds that would make Ali look like a slow-motion fighter.

You want features, you got them. You want organization and searchability, get ready. You want speed, buckle up.

Thanks to my loyal patrons that have stuck through this frustrating transition. Is not life the process of adapting to things that do not go according to plan? Never let a setback hold you back. Take what was meant to slow you down and look for a way to use it to propel you forward. Ok so my site is down, I could complain or… I can take this offline opportunity to redesign it from the ground up to be a foundation for 1000x future growth that it will have to support because I am not going to stop.

Pivot to Win

So what my site is down now is a perfect chance to interact with my readers on social media. I am going to get someone out of their chair this week to finally make that phone call or that customer appointment that they have been putting off for a year. I am going to motivate another to take the risk and launch the business that has been too intimidating for the last year. This is the week. Give me lemons and I will make so much lemonade Sunkist will go out of business.

  • What has your excuse been?
  • What is the limiting belief?
  • What is the truth?
  • What is the next action you are going to take today?

The only thing between you and your goals it a few hollow, empty, powerless excuses rattling around between your ears. Get out of your own way. Let nothing get between you and your goal.

Refined by FIRE will be synonymies with the most motivational and inspirational money blog on the planet. I won’t stop until it is. I won’t give up until the job is finished. The lights don’t go out until we toast to the top-ranking Google result. Mark my words, this storm is coming.

The New Site

My site may be down to half the world now but in T-5 days it will bounce back bigger, better and more powerful and more user-friendly than ever before. Knock me down and I will come back swinging.

I just finished the site design last night, it is as powerful as it is elegant. You will find what you are looking for faster than ever. Suggested content will put the information that appeals to individual users in view. You get to enjoy less empty rhetoric and more quality content. Would you like a sneak peek??

Coming Soon

Keep the FIRE burning my friends.
